Fade Up

What can I say about editing? I actually started my college career at Penn State University studying Computer Science. I quickly changed majors because of the endless days and nights in the computer lab writing code. I literally went weeks without seeing the sun. Then there’s editing. The worst part of editing is that it’s never perfect. You can always edit it a bit more no matter how many passes you take at it. Deadlines are the only thing that can make an editor say “okay, it’s ready for export”. At least with editing you can sometimes see daylight in the footage.

Making the Cut

I began editing my little home movies on a linear editing machine to VHS. Shut-up. I also did linear editing when I worked the assignment desk at Univision. It was great because I got to shoot every day and edit my own stuff for the 6 o’clock broadcast. All my packages were usually less than a minute so editing was a breeze. I really got into major editing at Crossbow Studio. I edited everything from interviews to short films and documentaries, commercials, and even music videos. It was very satisfying and one of the best work experiences of my life.

Star Wipe

I formally learned on Final Cut Pro 6 and 7 and did that for many years professionally. Later, I switched to Premiere Pro. I fell in love with the suite and never looked back. As an extension of editing I have also learned color correcting, photo editing, SFX, sound design and other specialties along with their respective applications. Now I’m even learning Dreamweaver. What can I say? I love to learn.
