Focus

I started shooting home movies that I also wrote, stared in, directed, and edited. Looking back, I notice that I always had a knack for composition. The lighting was okay but I never really paid much attention to it back then. Really knowing how to light came from working as a grip on an LA feature film. That experience helped me tremendously in discovering how to manipulate light to get the desired emotional effects. Learning what lenses to use etc. also came over time but I'm always learning new things and developing my technical skills.

Checking the Gate

I shot for news during an internship. It was the first time my camera work was ever broadcast. It was a thrilling and rewarding experience. I had to beg and plead with the producer to give me a camera but after the first VO package I came back with he sent me out on my own everyday. It wasn't long before I had to cover a building fire. No one was hurt, thankfully, but I was able to get flames and fire fighters in action. The anchor, a beutful and gracious woman named Ilia, complimented my work as we watched it live on air. I floated home that night on a cloud of smoke, figuratively speaking.

The Martini

Today, I own a camera that I don't get to use any where near as much as I would like to. But I have camera oped on many films that have gone on to win awards at festivals, and other projects like music videos, commercials, educational, informational and fund raising videos, etc. Even with all that my record button finger still gets itchy.
